Jaisalmer Fort

The Jaisalmer fort is one of the verbal of Rajasthan’s architecture, particularly of the stone-carver`s art. It is the second oldest of Rajasthan`s major forts of Rajasthan, but is located in quite a bizarre location, right in the middle of the Thar Desert, with its huge turrets pointing skywards.

  Patwon-ki-Haveli

The Patwon Ji ki Haveli is an interesting piece of Architecture and is the most important among the havelis in Jaisalmer. This is mainly because of two things, first that it was the first haveli constructed in Jaisalmer and second, that it is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small havelis. The havelis are also known as the 'mansion of brocade merchants'. This name has been given probably because the family dealt in threads of gold and silver used in embroidering dresses. However, there are theories, which claim that these traders made considerable amount of money in Opium smuggling and Money-lending.

bada bagh

Bada Bagh, which literally means 'Big Garden', is located on the Ramgarh road. It was commissioned by Maharawal Jait Singh in the early 16th century and completed by his son Lunakaran after his death. The site has three different things to watch, a garden, a tank and a dam. In the vicinity itself you will find Govardhan Stambh (pillar). It is believed that these are based on the name of the man who constructed them.
